Junior Volleyball Session – Saturday 25 March –
Junior volleyball players are invited to attend a Hampshire Volleyball Association sponsored session on Saturday 25th March between 3pm and 7pm at The Hub, Bay House School, Gosport. The cost is £5 per junior and all that is needed is plenty of water and snacks. We are unable to accommodate total beginners for this session.
Following this the committee will be reviewing the sessions so far to decide whether to continue offering further sessions. We will need to see a gradual increase in take up and interest in order to cover costs although we understand there have been clashes of dates with other junior events.

Junior Volleyball Sessions
Calling all teachers, coaches, clubs and junior volleyball players!
The first HVA-led junior volleyball session took place on 28 January and those that took part had a great time and got to play a lot of volleyball with each one demonstrating good progress over the four hour session. There are two further sessions planned on:
- Saturday 25th February; and
- Saturday 25th March
They will take place at The Bay Hub, Bay House School, Gomer Lane, Gosport PO12 2QP between 3pm and 7pm. The cost is just £5 per player.
Anyone who is interested must be aged between 11 and 18 years and needs to have basic skills and understanding of the sport. These sessions are not for complete beginners – sorry!
WHY SHOULD PLAYERS ATTEND?
- A chance to have top level coaching and improve their skills and knowledge
- Enhancement to their CVs
- Help towards GCSE outcomes
- Chance to experience a fabulous brand new sports facility
- Meet other juniors who play volleyball
- It’s fun
- Great value for money
WHY MIGHT PARENTS WISH TO TAKE THEIR YOUNGSTERS TO GOSPORT FOR VOLLEYBALL
- They can go across on the ferry and spend some time shopping, eating, drinking at Gunwharf! (reported by other parents as a great opportunity and a lot of fun!)
- It’s very cheap babysitting
- To watch/support their child in developing his/her skills
- If they would like a quiet few hours to catch up on work/emails etc. there is plenty of quiet space to sit quietly and get on (an opportunity taken by one parent last week)
- It’s great value for money
We hope to see you at the next session.

Junior Training Camp –
On Tuesday 20th December 2016, a group of 26 junior volleyball players from around the region gathered together at Ballard School in the New Forest. Under the expert guidance of head coach Clayton Lucas a team of coaches supported the players through three hours of skills practice and games. The players paid £5 each for the session which was donated to the local food bank to help families in need at Christmas. It was a great chance for the players to meet players from other cubs and make new friends. A brilliant time was had by all, with plenty of hard work, learning and fun. Hopefully these sessions will be repeated in 2017 as we continue to promote the best sport in the world! Pictures of the event can be seen in the gallery here

The second fixture of the HVA Sitting Volleyball Mini-League took place on Saturday 1 October at the Harbour School, Tipner in Portsmouth. GB Women joined previous participants, Guernsey, South Hants Sitting VC and South Hants 2. Once again the matches were played in great spirit with friendly rivalry between four fantastic teams. South Hants Sitting VC came out top on the day, winning all their matches but there was excellent play from all the teams throughout. Dates have now been confirmed for the coming season. At present we have booked them all at The Ashcombe Volleyball Centre but we would like the sessions to travel around the region so if you have a suitable 2 court venue please let me know which dates you are able to host. We can split the boys and girls sessions if necessary. The training charge of £5 per player goes directly to pay for the venue and for the teams at the Inter Regional competition so training sessions need to be at least self funding.
